IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition Tribute to 3750

IWC has just announced a new homage watch, the "Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition Tribute to 3705", based on the first black ceramic case Pilot's Watch "ref. 3705" launched in 1994. It pays tribute to the innovative spirit of the mechanical watchmaking industry that broke through the quartz crisis in the 90s.

However, In recently years, ref.3750 has become increasingly popular, and the features that made it discontinued just put it in demand. Prices is steadily rising because of the pursue by watch collectors.

The Ref. 3705 Ceramic Fliegerchronograph was IWC's first pilot's watch with a black ceramic case, powered by a calibrated Valjoux/ETA 7750 movement. The concept of a ceramic case was not yet accepted by watch enthusiasts, so the model was discontinued in a run of just 1,000 pieces until it regained the attention of collectors more than two decades later, becoming one of the most sought-after IWC pilot's watches on the auction market.

Compared to the original ref. 3705, the case size has been increased from 39mm to 41mm (in specify it’s 41*15.3mm), and the case, caseback, crown and chronograph pushers are all made of IWC's own "Ceratanium" porcelain titanium, making it a true "all black ceramic" watch.

The dial continues the earlier design elements such as the square hands, but the main change is the relocation of the small seconds hand to 6 o'clock and the 12-hour disc to 9 o'clock, a change mainly related to the construction of the movement. Due to the increase in the size of the case, the proportions of the dial elements have also been fine-tuned, with the three sub-dials being larger in diameter and the hour-markers being replaced with more readable non-serif bold numerals.

It is equipped with the IWC 69380 Calibre self-winding movement with an oscillation frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 46 hours, 33 Jewels. While the ref.3705 was equipped with an ETA 7750 swiss movement. The watch is water-resistant to 60 meters.

‘Tribute To 3705’ and ref.3705 are also equipped with a 20mm calfskin watch strap. (click here and find replacement 20mm watch band).

It is available in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces on the official IWC online platform only. The official price is USD $11,900.
