Why Should You Buy an Apple Watch?

Ever since the initial inventions of tabletop computers in the 20th century, the competition on the market was to achieve something smaller and more portable. At first, people wanted a computer on their laps, hence the invention of laptops. Then, people hoped for a computer that fits into their pockets, hence the emergence of smartphones. Now, people are looking for a computer that can be worn on their wrists, hence the birth of Apple watch.

An Apple watch may not be a must-have like your iPhone, but it is definitely a device that improves your quality of life. As advertised by Tim Cook, the Apple watch is indeed “the most personal device” out there. Before you know it, your Apple watch will quickly become a device indispensable to everyday life. Imagine this: instead of digging into your pocket to find your iPhone for simple tasks like telling the time, reading recent texts, or paying for your morning coffee, simply look to your wrist and all these functions are at your fingertips! Let us take a look at how your day would be like with an Apple watch:

5 best new release apple watch bands recommend (1)

On a busy Monday morning, your Apple watch will wake you up with its haptic alarm. The watch will vibrate instead of projecting a loud noise, so it does not wake your family members. Press the side button to turn off the alarm. If you feel like snoozing for nine minutes instead, just press the digital crown.
You can review the quality of last night’s sleep and current heart rate. Before leaving the house, check the weather before deciding whether you need a warmer or lighter coat.
On the way to work, you think of something to discuss with your boss. Lift your wrist and leave a voice memo on your Apple watch to remind yourself once you get to the office.
With Apple watch, you no longer need to go through the torture of bending your neck over an iPhone screen in fear or missing important emails from work. If your boss sends you a message, you can feel the vibration on your wrist.
After a million times, you still lose your iPhone in the office. Not to worry when you have an Apple watch. After a couple of taps, you hear the iPhone alarm and find your missing iPhone on your colleague’s office table.
One day, you accidentally fall off your bike on the way home from work. You start panicking as you have sustained a serious injury. Do not worry. Apple watch will detect if you have taken a fall and connect you with emergency services. You can also ask for immediate help by pressing and holding the side button.
Now that you have a basic idea of how an Apple watch can make a difference in your life, it is time to dive into its specific functions

Detail Features of Apple watch: Apple Watch 6, SE, 5, 4, 3

The Apple watch has a wide range of functions available. Here, we highlight the most important features below:

The Apple watch is best at things you care about most. Time-telling is very convenient with a quick glance at your wrist. Sending messages and emails can be done through voice by talking at the watch. Texting and calling are also possible with available cellular network. You can sync your music collection and enjoy your favourite songs anywhere you go through the Apple watch. With Apple Pay, just double tap the side button on your watch for simple and secure payment transactions. The map function will help you with directions wherever you are going and gives you a tap whenever it is time to make a turn. Talk to Siri by raising your wrist and asking for whatever you need – your personal assistant is always ready to help.

The Apple watch keeps you connected to people you care about. Family setup allows you to pair a family member’s watch to your own so that everyone can stay in touch. You can set up contacts for your kids and restrict apps when it is time to study. For older family members who do not have iPhones, you can receive safety notifications for health emergencies and quickly retrieve their location when needed. Always stay connected with family through Apple watch.

The Apple watch is your one and only fitness partner that fits on your wrist. You can track all the ways you are active by looking at the activity ring. Working out alone may be a difficult task, but the Apple watch keeps you motivated with awards, personalized coaching, and activity competitions. It can track different ways of exercising, whether it is running, cycling or high intensity interval training. You can then review the metrics of your performance specific to each type of exercise. If you wish, you can also bring your Apple watch along during swimming or surfing because it is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

The Apple watch always looks out for your health. It can track the quality and time of sleep each night. You can create your individualized sleep schedule and set up a bedtime routine to meet sleep goals. The watch also monitors your heart rate and rhythms. Unusually heart rates and irregular heart rhythms often go undiagnosed and can be a sign of an underlying disease. With the help of Apple watch, you can catch these signs early and consult your doctor. If you run into a medical emergency and become immobile, the watch can connect you with emergency services and notify your emergency contacts. Apple watch Series 6 also features a revolutionary sensor that allows the measurement of blood oxygen levels. This is an important indicator of your overall health and wellness.

The Apple watch is your iPhone’s new best friend. No more hide and seek with your iPhone. Tap the ping iPhone button and follow the sound to find your lost phone. Too lazy to grab your phone to take a picture? You can use the watch as a remote control to snap a picture or play the next song on your playlist. It can also serve as a control to your Apple TV or MacBook. It is the ultimate remote that is impossible to lose.

Overall Recommendations and Discussion

Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages. When choosing the best Apple watch to meet your needs, you should consider functionality, size, cost, and design.

  • If you are looking for a watch with modern design, the most functions, and do not mind paying extra, then Apple watch Series 6 is for you. It is also a great choice if you want to keep track of blood oxygen levels and ECGs. These two functions are unique to Series 6.
  • If you are looking for something very similar to Series 6 but prefer something cheaper, then Apple watch Series 5 is the best for you.
  • If you are looking for a budget Apple watch that retains most core functions but fewer upgrades, then Apple watch SE is the go-to. It does not have Always-On Retina and has a less advanced heart sensor. However, its price can make it outshine other models those features are not of your concern.
  • If you want an Apple watch but only need the most basic functions, then Apple watch Series 3 should be a great deal for you. This model does not offer the fancier functions that newer models do, but it still does a great job at tracking fitness metrics, time-telling, messaging, etc. It is the most affordable option, making it suitable for those who want a taste of the Apple watch but are tight on funds.

Although each person may have his or her own preferences, we recommend Series 5, Series 6, or SE. These three models offer the newest and most comprehensive functions that can truly improve your quality of life. They cost more than older models but are definitely worth the money.

For each Apple watch model, there are variations in functions, size, cases, etc. After deciding which model suits your taste, you may have further questions about the different model versions. Read below to figure out which option works for you:

  • GPS or GPS + cellular: The GPS-only version has a built-in GPS that requires connection to your iPhone at all times to use any internet-based functions. This includes texting, receiving notifications, answering phone calls, etc. The GPS + cellular version also has a built-in eSIM that connects to a cellular network directly. With the help of cellular network, the watch can function as a standalone device instead of relying on your iPhone to perform internet-based functions mentioned above. An eSIM does not need to be taken out or inserted; it only needs to be activated with the same cellular network as your iPhone. However, not all carriers support eSIM. This can be a potential problem and is important to consider before purchasing a GPS + cellular watch. Most people use both Apple watch and iPhone together. In this case, GPS-only watches would meet their daily needs. After all, GPS-only is more affordable.
  • 44mm or 40 mm: 44mm watches are larger and tend to be more legible. Of course, if your wrist size is on the smaller side (especially for ladies), then 40mm would be the better option.

Stainless steel or titanium case: The titanium case has a more subtle colour with a brushed finish to hide micro-abrasions. It is more expensive too. The stainless steel case comes in more colours, including gold, silver, and graphite. It shows scratches more easily but is a lot cheaper. Note that the Hermés Apple watch with a special watch face only comes in stainless steel.

User Guide After The Purchase of Your First Apple Watch

Let us introduce you to the anatomy of your new Apple watch. Note that different models may vary slightly. We will use Series 6 as an example.

Looking at the front, you will see a rectangular display with the Digital Crown on the right. The Side Button is below the Digital Crown. The microphone is in between the Digital Crown and Side Button. The speaker is on the left.

Looking at the back, you will see band release buttons on the top and bottom. These allow you to change watch bands. The backside also contains an electrical heart sensor, an optical heart sensor, and a blood oxygen sensor.

It just takes a couple of minutes to familiarize yourself with your new Apple watch.

Pair your Apple watch with your iPhone: Turn on your Apple watch and bring it near your iPhone. Follow the instructions that pop up on the screen and you are ready to go.

Choose a watch face: There are many watch faces to choose from. Simply swipe left or right across the screen to pick your favourite one. You can also scroll through a list of faces. Just touch and hold the display, then swipe left until you see a plus sign.

Using apps: Press the Digital Crown and tap on an app to open the app. Press the Digital Crown again to return to the Home Screen. Enjoy a wide range of different pre-installed apps! You can also download more from the App Store.

Change general settings: To open the Control Centre, touch and hold the bottom of the display, then swipe up. You can control different settings such as Wi-Fi and flashlight – very similar to how you would with your iPhone.

Change/set up orientation: If you want to move your Apple watch to your other wrist or prefer the Digital Crown on the other side, you can adjust the orientation to fit your personal habits. Go to General > Orientation to customize your settings.

Wear your watch properly: When wearing the watch, fasten the band tightly enough so that the Apple watch comes into close contact with your skin. Skin contact is important for features such as haptic notifications, wrist detection, and heart rate sensors. Do not wear it too tight or too loose; leave just enough room for your skin to breathe.

Change bands: Press the band release button on the backside of your watch. Slide the band across to remove the old one, then slide the new band in. Do not force the band to slide. If you run into trouble, try pressing the band release button again.

Apple Watch Faces

One of the most characteristic features of Apple watch is the Face Gallery. You can pick a face and customize it, add complications, and then save it to your collection. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and go to Face Gallery. There, tap a face to customize it. You can play around with different colours and styles to match your tastes. Add complications onto your preferred watch face by tapping on a complication position, such as top left, top right, or bottom. A list of complications available for that position will pop up and you can select the one you want. Common complications include alarm, battery, heart rate, mail, map, weather, etc. You can arrange the display of complications in any way you want. Note that not all watch faces allow the display of all complications. Not all watch faces are available in all regions or on all models.

Here are descriptions of some of the most popular Apple watch faces:

Activity Analog: This watch face superimposes activity progress rings over a traditional clock face. You can customize the colour and style (rings or sub-dials).

Artist: This watch face displays a visually appealing human face that changes every time you tap the display. With the pre-programmed algorithm, there are millions of different combinations of human faces.

Astronomy: This watch face shows real-time 3D model of the Earth, Moon, or solar system.

Breathe: This watch face displays circular shapes in the centre and promotes relaxation. Tapping the display will start breathing exercises. You can customize the style (classic, calm, or focus)

California: This watch face features a simplistic design and shows a mix of Roman and Arabic numerals. You can customize the colour, numerals, and dial.

Chronograph: This watch face measures time in precise increments like a classic stopwatch. The stopwatch app can be activated right from the watch face. You can customize the colour and timescale.

Fire and water: This watch face displays an animated fire or water image in the background.

Infograph: This watch face features up to eight complications and subdials. All the information you need can be seen at one glance. You can customize the colours of each complication and the subdials.

Apple Watch Apps

There are many apps available in your Apple watch by default. You can also download apps from the App Store. Here are the descriptions of some of the commonly used Apple watch apps:

Music: When you add music to your watch, you can listen to music without carrying your iPhone with you. Using the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, you can add specific playlists and albums to your watch. Tap on My Watch > Music > select songs to sync to your watch. If you are subscribed to Apple Music, you can add music through the Music app directly to your watch. Music you have listened to recently will be added automatically.

Apple Fitness +: Subscription to Apple Fitness + allows access to a catalogue of workouts. When you are ready to start a workout session, you can filter through workout videos based on captions, equipment, etc. If you need some extra help, try looking for a trainer. You can go through their unique bios and pick a trainer that is most compatible with you. All your metrics, such as heart rate and calories burned, can be shared from your Apple watch to other devices.

Heart rate and ECG: Through the Health app on your iPhone, you can set up your ECG sensor. Then, open the ECG app on your watch and hold your finger on the Digital Crown. The Apple watch will then proceed to record your ECG. You can let go of the Digital Crown during the process. Note that the ECG monitoring function is only available with Series 6 and in certain regions. If you want to check your heart rate, open the Heart Rate app to view your current heart rate, resting rate, and walking average rate. The Apple watch continuously measures your heart rate as long as you are wearing it.

Blood Oxygen (Series 6 only): The Blood Oxygen app measures the percentage of oxygen red blood cells carry from your lungs to the rest of your body. This indicator reflects your overall health and wellness. To start recording blood oxygen levels, go to the Apple Watch app on your iphone > My Watch > Blood Oxygen > turn on Blood Oxygen Measurements. The watch continuously measures your blood oxygen level throughout the day if you enable background measurements. It is also possible to take on-demand measurements at any time through the Blood Oxygen app. Note that the Blood Oxygen app is only available in certain regions.

Sleep: With the Sleep app, you can set sleep goals to help you get better sleep. Wear the watch to bed so that the Apple watch can track your sleep. The watch uses motion detection to determine when you fall asleep. Once you wake up, you can open the Sleep app to see how long you slept last night and the overall trend in the past 14 days. You can also customize sleep schedules, including how many hours of sleep you want to get, what time you want to go to bed and what time you want to wake up, and the alarm sound.

Walkie-Talkie: This is a fun and simple way to connect with other Apple Watch users. Like using a real walkie-talkie, you can press a button to talk, release, and wait for a reply. To start a conversation for the first time, open the app and tap on one of your contacts in the list. The app sends that person an invitation, and once your contact accepts the invitation, you can start talking. Add friends on the Walkie-Talkie screen to engage in group discussion. You can make yourself available or unavailable for Walkie-Talkie talks through the Control Centre. Note that this app requires both participants to have connectivity via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cellular. It is not available in all regions.

How to choose an Apple Watch Bands?

Apple Watches are available two size in the market. When you try to select an strap size for your Watch,  they might see 38mm, 40mm, 42mm and 44mm, some people are confused about it. Actually, 38mm and 40mm Apple watches are competiable with same size watch  band, as well as  the 42mm and 44mm, because they just different in screen size between different Apple watch series, not the case size.

Apple design a series watch bands to be paired with different Apple watch collection. These straps included Sport Loop, Sport Band, Milanese Loop, Modern Buckle, Leather Link, Link Bracelet, and new Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop

The Sport Loop is similar to the Sport Band, but it’s the first Apple Watch to feature a slip-on design with no buckle or clasping mechanism. It’s made from a stretchy liquid silicone rubber that can stretch to fit over the hand and then collapse to fit tightly on the wrist.

e14f1c17dc18d26a267aae2ed745fe68

Apple says that it’s ultra-comfortable because there are no overlapping parts, and it’s simple to slip on and off. It’s swim-proof, sweat-proof, and treated with UV for a silky finish., and unlike all of the other Apple Watch band designs, it comes in nine different sizes for each watch casing size.

587444e735d48ba38df593a5e95786f0

Apple offers a printable size guide so you can find the model that best fits your wrist, or you can use a measuring tape to check wrist size. You need to make sure to get a good measurement before ordering because you can’t adjust the straps fitting size.

Some people have had fit issues with the Solo Loop and the Braided Solo Loop given the specific sizing requirements, which has prompted Apple to provide more tailored fit instructions. When measuring with the tool, there should be a snug but not too tight fit, and those in between sizes should size down. Apple also warns that the Solo Loop can stretch a bit over time because of the material that it is made of. Apple does allow returns of the band if you need a different size, but it’s best to get a good fit to begin with.

Like the Solo Loop, the Braided Solo Loop is a new Apple Watch designed without a buckle or clasp of any kind. It’s made from a stretchable recycled yarn interwoven with silicone threads so it can fit over the hand before wrapping around the wrist.

0974e18c8d3444ae47092917cd477105

Apple says the soft, textured feel of the band is sweat and water-resistant, plus ultra-comfortable to wear. The Braided Solo Loop also comes in nine sizes for each Apple Watch casing size, so wrist measurements are required to order (or there are fitting options in Apple’s retail stores).

a84be5a54a188f519c899c402f7478bd

The Braided Solo Loop is one of Apple’s more expensive band options at $99, and the same sizing caveats apply to the Braided Solo Loop.

Apple’s Sport Bands are the company’s lightest, most comfortable bands, made from a flexible and lightweight fluoroelastomer. Because they’re ideal for use when exercising or engaging in vigorous activity, most of Apple’s aluminum watches ship with Sport Bands.

1c67f3a4c657d6dee6c91f5a3d92a6be

Pricing starts at $49 for the Sport Bands, which come with three pieces to adjust the size. Apple offers Sport Bands in S/M, M/L, and L/XL size options.

Designed to be soft, breathable, and lightweight, the Sport Loop is made from fabric that wraps around the wrist for a tight but comfortable fit.

77166c13138d0719557582bed858cc47

It’s made from a velcro-like double-layer nylon and comes in a range of colors, with Nike-branded Sport Loops also available. The 40mm version fits wrists sized 130 to 190mm, while the 44mm version fits wrists sized 145 to 220mm.

The unique perforated Nike Apple Watch bands that come with Nike watches are also available for purchase on a standalone basis.

fb6e72fd92e1a7541477219ec1aa6a26

Nike bands are made from a high-performance fluoroelastomer and are available for both 40mm and 44mm Apple Watch models, plus Apple sells Nike-branded Sport Loop options in unique colors. The bands fit wrists sized 130 to 200mm.

The stainless steel Milanese Loop, available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, is a flexible metal mesh band that wraps around the wrist. It’s made of such a fine metal material that it’s comfortable to wear all day long, and it’s surprisingly lightweight.

2e3c4089da2e1d29d80c33e0433d48f7

The Leather Loop, made from quilted Venezia leather, is another band that wraps around the wrist instead of using a clasp. It has two pieces, with one feeding through a loop in the other and then magnetically attaching to itself for a secure fit. Leather Loops watch band is only available for 44mm Apple watches. The Leather Loop fits wrists sized 150mm to 210mm.

30c1fd176ed23511246c3758e2e0abef

The Leather Link is new alongside the Apple Watch Series 6. It’s similar to the Leather Loop, but with a two-piece design that doesn’t involve a loop. The Leather Link is made from Roux Granada leather sourced from France, and it has flexible, molded magnets that wrap around the wrist for a comfortable fit.

e56bcedbbabe8aaa984977ff83d71a2a

While the Leather Loop is not available for the smaller 40mm Apple Watch, the redesigned Leather Link fits both 40 and 44mm models. It comes in S/M and M/L and fits wrists sized from 130 to 180mm.

The Modern Buckle, made from supple Granada leather, is a band that’s designed to work with the smaller 40mm Apple Watch models. It features a two-piece magnetic buckle and an inner layer of Vectran weave for strength and scratch resistance.

8574b688610bbc0300c9648b1e95aed1

The 316L stainless steel alloy Link Bracelet, available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, is Apple’s most expensive band made in-house. Available in silver ($349) and space black ($449), the Link Bracelet resembles a high-quality traditional watch band.

3572b9b6187a47a2514f11107f4beffd

The 40mm model fits wrists sized 135 to 195mm while the 44mm model fits wrists sized 140 to 205mm. A 6-link add-on kit expands its size from 205mm to 245mm for an additional $49.

Hermès bands are available in two collections: Hermès Jumping Single Tour and Hermès Leather, they all come with an assortment of colors. Hermes Jumping Single Tour is made of Nylon while Hermes Leather is made of selected Leather.

b13e62380f7f23fdc7013471b0086e8c

As these are bands created in partnership with a French fashion houses, prices are more expensive than Apple’s own bands.

Should I pay for an official Apple Watch Bands?

Whiles, I don’t think it’s worthy. From a simple silicone rubber solo loop band to a classy calfskin leather band, the Apple store has a large selection of watch bands that feature different designs. You can find themed designs such as the Black Unity wrist band that supports racial equity and justice. Nike sport band and Hermés leather band are available in many different colours. There are stainless-steel alloy wrist bands with magnetic or butterfly closures for those who enjoy flashy designs. You can visit the online store and filter watch bands based on case size, model, band type and band colours. However, wrist bands from the Apple Store are quite pricey. (Richer please ignore this part) The most basic wrist band costs $49.00 USD, while Hermés leather band can cost up to $489.00. All these watch bands you can get much cheaper via many online stores, and I do know they are not that big different.
